Problem
The Denver Broncos’ Gameday Magazine lacked visual impact, had inefficient workflows, and was generating significant waste due to overprinting. The fan experience suffered, and operational costs were higher than necessary.
Solution
I led a complete redesign and process overhaul of the Gameday Magazine during the 2019 season to improve quality, reduce waste, and optimize production.
– Transitioned from saddle-stitch to perfect-bound format with upgraded paper and a matte cover
– Streamlined internal workflows, reducing design and review time from seven days to three
– Collaborated with the print vendor to cut production costs and improve quality
– Identified and fixed inefficiencies in game-day distribution, significantly reducing surplus inventory
Results
– Saved over $50,000 per season in printing and production costs
– Reduced unused copies from 10,000+ to under 1,000 per game
– Delivered a premium, fan-forward magazine with more timely content
– Increased operational efficiency and publication quality
My role
– Led overall strategy, design direction, and process optimization
– Managed vendor relationships and negotiated cost savings
– Oversaw content development and layout
– Provided photo creative direction
– Analyzed and addressed distribution logistics

Goals
– Enhance the visual and physical quality of Gameday Magazine
– Reduce production costs and environmental waste
– Improve internal processes for faster, more accurate delivery
– Elevate the fan experience through better design and content
